Garden Design
Please have a look through some of my work. I have created some beautiful gardens this year. The idea of this gallery is to give you an essence of my work. If you would like to discuss any project you may be considering and wish to view my full portfoilio, please fill in the "contact us" form. I'd be very happy to discuss your ideas with you.
Beautiful Back Garden
This beautiful home had a neglected garden that the clients wanted redisigning to suit family life. They also wanted a beautiful place to entertain and relax. The design brief was to maintain an essence of the woodland garden at the lower end of the garden and blend this with a family garden that gives beauty and privacy to the owners.
Simple recycling
This pond was full of silt which is rich in nutrients. This was cleared and spread over the gardenbefore landscaping. The sides of the pond were rebuilt using traditional methods and planted with a mixture of shrubs and herbaceous plants that thrive in wet/moist conditions.
Olive Tree Terrace
I brought the inside out here, the surface being the same as the interior flagstone kitchen floor of this beautifully designed Surrey home. The simple design here makes the courtyard a lovely place to be, quiet and tranquil with the sound of trickling water into a pool breaking the stillness.
Beautiful planting
As a student, I was totally inspired by Piet Oudolf, I spent a long time getting to know the plants and how they work together. I like to use grasses and herbaceous plants to create movement, colour and texture. I like to weave plants together to form a canvas that changes through the seasons, colours and forms are chosen carefully. Plantings are never a fruit salad.
Limestone Valley
The owners of this garden love this. They had strong views on the materials I used here. The effect is difficult to catch completely. This photo taken in the first year of planting gives just a hint at the beauty of the planting that will slowly obscure the rocks as the plants mature.
Planting For all the seasons
This beautiful border was photographed when it was only ayear old. It has great foliage colours that really work well together. It provides interest right through the seasons.
The Right Plants
One of the tricks for garden designers and plantsmen alike is to find plants that work in specific places. Here block planting is used to maximum effect in a semi shaded garden planted in very heavy clay, a challenge for anyone. The planting continues to flourish with the bare minimum of human intervention.
The SandStone Stairway
Just a muddy bank when I arrived. This design evolved from that point in time. York stone for the steps will weather as time passes, plants will grow and spread creating a magical walk from one level of this valley garden to another.
